Improving the quality of life and standard of living in the society
In striving for excellent, we decided to reach-out and follow up on our beneficiaries through our events and programmes, where we use the opportunity to mentor, train and equip women and girl child with sustainable project that will improve the quality of their life and standard of living in the society. Our vision is to use these three media to achieve our goal on a continuous basis.
We use this medium to train and equip and support passionate women who in turn take the experience to execute live changing projects in their respective communities cut across their host nations.
Change isn’t just about big headline moments, legal victories and international agreements: the way we talk, think, and act every day can create a ripple effect that benefits everyone.
This free summer program is designed to empower Newark families by providing the tools, resources, and experiences needed to improve their quality of life and raise their standard of living. Twenty-five years ago, some 30,000 women and men from over 200 countries arrived in Beijing, China for the Fourth World Conference on Women, where comprehensive policy agenda for gender equality was discussed to recognize women’s right.

We use this medium to train and equip and support passionate women who in turn take the experience to execute live changing projects in their respective communities cut across their host nations. Our drive is to see potential, dignity and power of all women and girls restored.
Change isn’t just about big headline moments, legal victories and international agreements: the way we talk, think, and act every day can create a ripple effect that benefits everyone. As we reflect on the progress made, the call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in their community is important. We also have it in mind that despite some progress, real change has been agonizingly slow for majority of women and girls in the world. Today not a single country can claim to have achieved gender equality.
In the meantime, legal restrictions have kept 2.7 billion women from accessing same job as men. Multiple obstacles remain unchanged in law and culture. Women and girls continue to be undervalued; they work more and earn less and have fewer choices; and experience multiple forms of violence at home and public spaces. In this light, we join the United Nation through the SDGs goal 5 to uplift and recognize extraordinary women and girl child who have fought and continue to fight for the good cause of women all over the world. We do this as we wrap up the Icon fellowship program session for the year, and showcase the initiative hard work and commitments in our host communities.

The program focuses on key areas such as career development, health and nutrition, parenting support, home ownership preparation, and youth enrichment. By connecting families with local experts, mentors, and community organizations, we aim to create a supportive environment where every participant can thrive, not just during the summer, but beyond.
Open to all Newark residents, this initiative is more than just a seasonal event; it’s a step toward sustainable change and stronger, more resilient families.
In our quest to end period poverty for the girl child. We launch our Icon Pad Bank to support teenage girls from different underserved communities in Lagos Nigeria who don’t have access to sanitary pads due to the increase in price of pads in the market.
This has always been a persistent issue for so many girls out there. And in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 3, to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, we join the world to reduce this problem. ICON of change is making it a priority to be a bridge that fills this gap as we sponsor a girl child through our Icon Fellowship Programme, with pad every month.
11th October marks the International Day of the Girl Child, a day dedicated to girls’ empowerment, fulfillment of girls’ rights and solving challenges they face. Twenty-five years ago, some 30,000 women and men from over 200 countries arrived in Beijing, China for the Fourth World Conference on Women, where comprehensive policy agenda for gender equality was discussed to recognize women’s right.
Today, the movement has expanded to a global observation, as women across the world pressed forward on this agenda. For this reason, adolescent girls – girls from all walks of life are boldly demanding action against discrimination, violence and poor learning opportunities. In the spirit of the international girl child day, we join the rest of the world to support and celebrate the girl child, as we lend our voice to the cause of girl child on the global scale, based on the theme set by the UN (United Nation) for every year. With our initiative plan for girls, ICON do role out a simple and impactful project to commemorate the girl child day event every year.
