Self-reliance and empowerment for women
Empowering women through skill acquisition appears to be one of the potent options in this empowering drive. Self-reliance and empowerment for women has been the center of agitations for gender balance in Africa. It is obvious that disparity exists between the two opposite sex, and women are largely the marginalized gender. With the recognition of this fact, the United Nations initially proposed the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the year 2000 which has evolved into Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 5, which goal is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
These goals are meant to tackle the underdevelopment in Africa and other developing nations of the world. Creating a block of independent community of women by fostering a level of responsibility through empowerment has always been the watch word of ICON as we go the extra miles to fulfill this mission because equipping a woman is empowering a community. And through our free skill acquisition training for women and girl child, we are realizing and giving women a career, they have always dreamt of.
